The wait is finally over, the PlayStation 5 is finally unveiled by Sony. The system is a futuristic looking machine with a white and blue color scheme. The system is the largest console that I have ever seen and may even be the largest in history. Along with the console viewers got to see the new Dual Sense controller. The controller features new ways to feel the game by providing more feedback to the players hands. The feedback can simulate the difference between drawing strings a bow or firing a gun, something that the old dual shock controllers cannot replicate. This is exiting news and only time will tell how effective the feature is. The PlayStation 5 will launch on November 12th in the United States with a price tag of $499.99 for the regular version and $399.99 for the Digital Edition.
Personally I love the futuristic aesthetics of the design. It reminds me of Tesla in the way these new electronic cars look like something out of a sci-fi movie. The dimensions are Height: 15.4 inches/39 cm, Width: 4.09 inches/10.4 cm and Length 4.09 inches/26 cm. This is incredibly large and I’m not sure that it would fit in everyone’s TV stands. I’m sure all us hardcore gamers will find a way. I have my fingers crossed that if I hold out Sony will provide a slimmer model or a PS5 Pro. I also expect the first version of a system to have crashes and in some cases they become bricked. If that happens hopefully Sony can provide an updated version of this model with a new serial number to reflect the difference. The PS4 Pro was upgraded with a quieter version since the PS4 Pro would get really loud after prolonged use. It also had more efficient power usage which also helped with the overheating.
Sony has already released images of the new look of the PS5 game cases starting with Spider-Man Miles Morales. In the bottom right corner you can see the new PlayStation Studios logo. The logo represents all the exclusive games that they make. I think its a smart move on their part because Nintendo has been doing that for years with their games and strengthening the PlayStation brand will only improve their sales. PS5 looks to heading in the right direction and I’m excited to see what they have in store next.
